The latest pop poop from R&B bleater, Rihanna is flopping again, pulling lower numbers than her last failed CD "Loud." Rihanna's "Talk That Talk" didn't, as the album has no legs and is flopping on the charts. According to Hits Daily Double, the CD is expected to sell 180,000 to 200,000 copies in its first week of release, which cannot sustain a hit album by a major label artist or associated recoup costs.
It will struggle to reach platinum certification, if at all. And truth be told, she will not need to sell that number, because albums shipped and not actually sold, count towards certification, which is an inaccurate and flawed system upon which to gauge success.
During the years Mariah Carey was having sex with Tommy Mottola, which led to a nasty divorce from his wife of 20-years, he would flood the market with her CDs to gain certifications she did not earn, as a massive number of the CDs were sitting on the shelves unsold. But it allowed her to falsely claim she sold a gazillion records. She was claiming astronomical numbers that did not square with the facts.
The minute Carey left the label, where his people were still embedded, her albums began flopping, as Mottola was not there anymore to provide the smoke and mirrors, which he handsomely profited from as well in receiving a chunk of her royalties on inflated numbers.
